About Coinneach MacLeod
Failte, I’m Coinneach the Hebridean Baker – I was born & raised on the Isle of Lewis, the most northerly of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. I have been Scotland's bestselling cookbook author for 2021 & 2022 and have featured on the Canadian bestseller list.
In 2020, I began sharing videos online. They were mostly traditional recipes along with adventures throughout the islands with my partner Peter and our wee pup Seoras. Over 26 million video views (and counting!) later, I have inspired my followers to bake, forage, learn Gaelic, have a dram or two of whisky and want to visit the Scottish islands.
In Sept 2021, I released my debut cookbook, The Hebridean Baker, Recipes and Wee Stories from the Scottish Islands and it became Scotland’s best selling cookbook of the year. It has now been released in the US, Canada and Australia. In Sept 2022, I released my follow up, My Scottish Island Kitchen.
Inspired by family recipes, traditional bakes and Scottish flavours, showcasing Scotland’s extensive larder and bring flavourful dishes with a story to tell, the cookbook is filled with delicious recipes from Island Scones to Caledonian Cream, Clootie Dumpling to Whisky Ice Cream, First Footers Martini to Empire Biscuits. Treats to make every Scot and lover of Scotland flock to their kitchens! There's something here to put a smile on everyone's face, beautiful photography and stories from the islands. They include Hebridean myths and legends and the story of the day my father met the Queen!
I have appeared on primetime British TV shows such This Morning, the BBC Travel Show and Kirstie Allsopps Christmas Show, as well as the CBS Sunday Morning Show, CTV The Social and shows in everywhere from Serbia to New Zealand.
BBC Travel Show said I was 'serving his sumptuous food with a side of Hebridean folklore, Scottish Gaelic and traditional music'. This Morning said I had 'beautiful recipes and what looks like a perfect life' - My cookbook’s new book will share all this, bringing a breath of fresh Scottish island air to your kitchen.
